  5. FileTrax© is the easiest, most powerful file tracking database available.  FileTrax automatically extracts all of the information you would every need to effectively track your files.  From within FileTrax, all you have to do is click the "Add" button and FileTrax does the rest.  Or if you're not in FileTrax you can just drop the file or files you want to add onto the "Drop Adder".   Store and sort your files with over a dozen pieces of information on each file.  Whether you want to keep track of files you've downloaded, files you have on the hard drive, or just a certain group of files you need organized, it's effortless.  FileTrax also allows you to view and/or print records and listings of files by various groupings.  A new addition to FileTrax is a file launcher.  You can launch any of the files you have "tracked" just by clicking the "Launch" button.  Thank you for downloading FileTrax, I guarantee it will be worth your time.

  8. •File information: Track you files by name, file type, subtype, size, version, author, creation date, modification date, where it was acquired from, type of software, if it's paid for, and a rating.
  9. •Searching: Powerful search ability. Instantly jump to a known file or just hit one of the index letters A through Z to view files starting with that letter.
  10. •List: List all files or list by numerous subtypes.
  11. •Printing: Print single records of files or lists of any files you want.
  12. •Launching:  Click the "Launch" button to launch any file you have "tracked."
  13. •Drop Adder:  Just drop files onto the Drop Adder to add them to FileTrax.

  16. •FileMaker Pro 2.x
  17. •Applescript 1.x  is highly recommended.  It's necessary for "Auto-Add" and access to the printing features.  The printing limitation is only temporary, however.

  20. •••As in previous releases, comments, criticisms, suggestions, ANYTHING is welcome input.  There is a questionnaire form to help you rate the features of FileTrax and to tell me your ideas of what what works, what doesn't, and what would make FileTrax more productive for you.  I promise that I will try and implement all of your good ideas into the next version of FileTrax, so don't think think that your opinions don't count!  Even if you're not planning to use FileTrax, please fill out the questionnaire and tell me why not or just drop me a message at tibbetts@blue.weeg.uiowa.edu.  Keep those comments and ideas coming!

  22. FileTrax is shareware, but I'm not asking much.  The shareware situation is as follows:

  24. $10-   You’ll receive all new versions of FileTrax via e-mail. And you’ll also receive the password to allow you to edit FileTrax.
  25. $15- You’ll receive the latest version on disk via U.S. Mail and all other new versions in the future via e-mail(if you have an address). You’ll also receive the password to allow you to edit FileTrax.
  26. $20- This is for people who live outside of the United States. Same as the $10 description, but the extra five dollars is for shipping costs.

I can only get new releases to people with internet e-mail addresses or AOL e-mail addresses, but don't worry.  If you register FileTrax and I can't get the new releases to you, they will always be available on large internet sites as well as AOL.  I should also have a Compuserve account by the end of June so they should appear there soon.  New versions should appear at Infomac sites only a day or two after I release them.
